YES, Definitely YES!

Community Impact Northern Nevada is just one of a growing network of organizations not only having an impact ourselves, but encouraging others to have an impact also.  While your individual actions can have an impact, we encourage you to band together with other Christians within your church and in your community to prioritize, strategize, set goals and get moving. 

Together we are stronger.

Here are some steps you can take right now to start having an impact.

2. Find like-minded Christians, pastors and churches in your area by asking people about what they're doing to impact their communities.
     Their response will let you know pretty quickly if this sort of "civic engagement" is even on their mind.  Tell them why you are taking action.
3. Watch our Civic Engagement Conference online. 
You will hear from three engaged pastors on why they are leading engagement at their church and the effects it has had in their communities.

4. Further Educations & Training
While there are many opportunities for education, the first step we recommend is an eight week video class called “Biblical Citizenship in Modern America” provided by Patriot Academy.  This class educates attendees about the true Christian heritage of our country and of our Constitution, and the Biblical responsibilities placed upon citizens.

5. Steps to Protect Children
​Pastors and Church Leaders
  • Become a sponsor of a local pregnancy care organization
  • Promote donations and volunteerism for a local pregnancy care organization
  • Preach about the sanctity of life
  • Promote attendance “March for Life” and similar events
  • Support organizations combating child/human trafficking
  • Help to educate members and the public to recognize signs of trafficking
  • Host a “child safety resource event” with information on internet safety, drug prevention, cell phone abuse, Etc.
Every Christian
  • Donate to a local pregnancy care organization
  • Volunteer at a local pregnancy care organization
  • Attend marches, rallies or other events in support of
    ​Right to Life
  • Donate to or volunteer with organizations combating child/human trafficking
  • Educate yourself on how to recognize signs of trafficking and how to report concerns
  • Become a foster parent or support a foster family
  • Sponsor kids through Compassion International or World Vision
6. Steps to Impact Government Schools and Libraries
Pastors and Church Leaders
  • Promote and support home schooling or Christian private schools
  • Start a Christian school
  • Provide scholarships to families
  • Teach about parents rights & duty to teach children Christian values
  • Get to know local school board members, principals & teachers
  • Hold wholesome events at the public library
  • Start after school clubs such as: Good News Club, Trail Life USA, American Heritage Girls
​Every Christian
  • Homeschool or use a Christian private school if possible
  • Pay tuition for grandchildren/relatives to attend private Christian school
  • Get involved: attend school board meetings, join PTA, attend school events
  • Apply to be appointed as a Library Trustee
  • Run for school board trustee
  • Search for and expose objectionable material in your school and library and ask that it be removed
  • Donate wholesome books to libraries Volunteer to be a coach, mentor, or room-parent
  • Stay informed, join with other parents, object and opt-out when needed
6. Steps to Impact Government Officials and Legislation
Pastors and Church Leaders
  • Learn about the influence of pastors on America’s history
  • Teach about the church’s role in the public square
  • Start a Community Impact Team at your church
  • Get to know local elected officials, build relationships and pray for them
  • Hold a “Town Hall” or “Candidate Meet & Greet”
  • Ask how your church can partner in serving the needs of the community
​Individual Christians
  • Join a Community Impact Team
  • Get to know local elected officials, build relationships and pray for them
  • Stay informed about issues & decisions being made by elected officials
  • Attend Board meetings and legislative sessions and give input
  • Apply to serve on your Community Advisory Board (or similar position)
  • Share helpful community information on social media
 
6. Steps to Impact Elections
Pastors and Church Leaders
  • Simply encourage your members to vote
  • Encourage your members to vote with their Biblical values as a priority
  • Provide a voter’s guide that asks members to compare candidates with the evidence of fruits of the spirit
  • Encourage your members to run for elected office
  • Organize a ballot collection system so that members can bring their ballots with them to church services for transport to the official county ballot boxes.
Individual Christians
  • Join a Community Impact Team
  • Get to know local elected officials, build relationships and pray for them
  • Stay informed about issues & decisions being made by elected officials
  • Attend Board meetings and legislative sessions and give input
  • Apply to serve on your Community Advisory Board (or similar position)
  • Share helpful community information on social media
